Another Day, Another Site

Welcome to my very own Wordpress site. I have to say thanks for WordPress for allowing me to have the software.

Keep in mind the site is a ever-developing site. I am having to relearn some of what I did in college as well as learn some of the newer technologies like CSS, ASP, SQL. I am old school, raw-code html writer. I learned it all by doing it the hard way. This was long before there where WYSIWYG programs like Claris HomePage ever came into existence.

I am currently developing my main site, http://www.bellepheron.com as a companion to this blog as well as possibly generate some much needed extra cash. It is my hope that people will read this and gain something from it.

I will post as often as I feel necessary, but I can guarantee I will make at least one post per week.

Very First Blog Post

Approximately, 14 months ago my family finally was able to obtain a computer after having our desktop suffer a catastrophic meltdown of the system. Since the desktop was a freebie computer from a business we didn’t have the system discs to restore it.

Thanks to the wonders of recieving a nice-sized tax return we were able to buy an HP Pavilion 9205us Laptop with preinstalled Windows Vista. It has been a good computer inspite of some of the griping I’ve heard about from people who have upgraded from Windows XP.

Part of the reason, the decision to buy this laptop is I have two children who like to watch their DVDs and other edu-tainment type shows. After all, how many times can I put up with watching Dora, Diego and Zoboomafoo? I needed something for me while I was home with them and they were either playing or watching something they liked.

I remembered playing Runescape back in approximately 2000-2001. It was only for a little while and I didn’t get very far at all as I couldn’t play it on a 33.6kps modem I had on my Mac at the time. After about 3 weeks, I basically was forced to give it up as it was just too slow for my tastes.

Fast forward to 2007, I was looking for something to play online. I have tried things like yahoo games etc, but they did not meet a requirement I had. I wanted to play with other adults. Because of this I remembered Runescape and then re-registered with this same screen name. I started playing as F2P for a week or so and I finally said, heck with it I’ll pay to play.

As with any game, I have run into the idiots that roam the cyber highways. I’ve added and deleted so many RS screennames I cannot keep track of them. I’ve been part of several clans and left those clans. I’ve made enemies and friends, some just on game others actually outside of RS completely but met thru the game.

My wife even has now a P2P account and says the game is addicting to play. I have to agree, I am addicted to it, also. However, I do take breaks from playing otherwise I get very agitated.

I am enjoying the game as much as I can. I’ll get more into the why in another post.

Routine

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the routines of life that we rely on so heavily, some so far as to be a rut even. Just a few days ago, I encountered one of those things of life we call a curve ball. As per a normal routine trip, my wife was picking up my daughter from her school at the usual time, and while she was walking she was clipped by a person in a vehicle who just ran off without any attempt to stop.

I do believe she was protected by an angel or something because I do pray for her, however, I was reminded of the possibility of losing her. She literally could be in a hospital bed right now, on life support with no chance of seeing the person I know again. Whether anyone likes it or not, I do pray for her safety to the God I believe in and let him do His job.

I love my wife dearly with all I can give, and I am grateful for her and all she does for this family.

While I like my routines, I do sometimes like to upset them just to be different from time to time, so perhaps some one else might consider doing the same thing.
